Modern B2B SaaS monetization has outgrown the systems built to support it.



As companies move from static, seat-based pricing to hybrid pricing, hybrid selling, and multi-product offerings, monetization logic fractures across product, sales, and billing stacks.



There are two underlying problems:



  1. Multiple product catalogs – Most companies maintain multiple product catalogs across billing systems, CPQ, CRM, ERP, and internal databases. None of these systems actually enforce what’s been sold in the product, making end-to-end orchestration impossible across contracts, provisioning, usage, checkout, and in-app experience.
  2. Hard-coded entitlements – Pricing, packaging, and access are typically hard-coded into application logic and tied to billing plan IDs. This couples business decisions to code deploys, dramatically slowing iteration and making experiments, exceptions and the execution of hybrid price models, hybrid sales motions, and multi-product offerings expensive, slow, and risky.



The result is predictable:

  • Slow pricing and packaging iteration
  • Revenue leakage and poor lifecycle control
  • Engineering teams acting as monetization gatekeepers
  • Companies unable to confidently adopt usage-based or AI-driven pricing models
  • Companies unable to identify & act on whitespace opportunity and churn risk



In a world moving rapidly toward hybrid and consumption-based monetization, the legacy quote-to-cash stack becomes a bottleneck on growth.



Schematic is the monetization operating system for modern SaaS and AI companies.



We decouple pricing and packaging from code by introducing a first-class entitlements layer that becomes the system of record for what a customer has access to, how much they can use, and under what conditions.



By providing 1st-class entitlements infrastructure, Schematic becomes a company’s monetization control plane, connecting and orchestrating:

  • Product access and limit enforcement
  • Usage tracking and metering
  • Pricing models, credits, and packaging
  • CRM, contracts, and automated provisioning
  • Billing systems like Stripe
  • Billing, usage, and cost data



This allows companies to:

  • Avoid building & maintaining monetization infrastructure in-house
  • Launch and iterate on hybrid pricing models without redeploying code
  • Support hybrid PLG + sales-led motions on the same foundation
  • Enforce usage limits, credits, and upgrades in real time
  • Identify expansion opportunities and churn risk from joined usage and billing data
  • Schematic orchestrates the quote-to-cash stack and collapses it into a single, reliable system that gives companies end-to-end control of monetization as they scale.



We've closed early customers (high growth startups and scaleups) through founder-led sales and built the foundation. Now we need someone to take it further. This is a founding role where you'll pressure-test what exists, run experiments, and build our first repeatable sales motion.



In this role, you will...



  • Own full-cycle deals from outbound prospecting through close-no SDR handoffs, no split responsibilities
  • Build pipeline through personalized outbound, partner channels (especially Stripe), and founder handoffs
  • Run experiments across messaging, positioning, and channels to find what converts
  • Shape the narrative -work with founders on positioning, objection handling, and competitive differentiation
  • Be the voice of the customer internally-feed learnings back to product and help prioritize what to build
  • Document everything -your learnings become the playbook the team builds on



Who you are...

  • You've built before. Founding AE, early sales hire, or transitioned from an adjacent role (customer success, partnerships, bizops, etc). You know what it's like to operate without a finished playbook and have demonstrated consistent success over 5+ years of experience.
  • You know how to sell to technical buyers. Engineers, product managers, CTOs. You can hold a credible conversation about APIs, integrations, and infrastructure while also understanding and able to translate value to non-technical leaders (CRO, COO, etc)
  • You're a hunter. You create opportunities, not just work inbound. You've built pipeline from scratch and know what that takes. You’re exceptional at leveraging your network to open great opportunities with great companies.
  • You think like a scientist, a listener, and a storyteller. Hypotheses, tests, iteration. World-class discovery questions. Rapid ROI assessment. Exceptional positioning. You're trying to learn something with every conversation, as well as help every prospect you speak to better understand their options.
  • You document and share. Not a lone wolf. You write things down and make the whole team smarter. You’re brave, courageous, and inspirational in your work ethic and in your affect.
  • You care about craft. You believe sales can and should be done with the same care as great product.



Bonus points...

  • Background at usage-based, PLG, or billing-focused companies (Orb, Metronome, LaunchDarkly, Stripe)
  • Familiarity with pricing, packaging, or entitlements-especially Stripe Billing
  • A personal network in the AI or developer tooling ecosystem



What it means to join...

  • First 3-6 months focused on learning and experimentation, not rigid quotas
  • Work directly with founders who are invested in building this function the right way
  • Shape the GTM motion-how we sell, who we target, how we scale
  • Frontier customers building AI and developer tools
  • If not based in NYC or SF, expect ~25% travel (3-5 days/month to one of those locations)
  • Comp: $250-300K OTE (base + variable) + meaningful equity
